'News has been received to the effect that Corporal Chas. Mellor, of the 18th Lancashire Fusiliers, was dangerously wounded on Tuesday in last week, and it is understood that the nature of the injury is a gunshot wound in the abdomen. Corporal Mellor, who is the son of Mr. C. Mellor, of Kniveton, and son in law of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jones, of Waterloo House, Ashbourne, was formerly in the employ of Mr. L. L. Allen, of the Market Place, and joined the army in August 1916.'
